By the end of the summer, we get to know our Carolina Anoles pretty well. There are those that like to hang out on the string beans; those who frequent the vines covering our garden gate; or in this case, our guardian of the back deck. This one can often be seen scouting for delicious bugs, and is the same one featured in my previous image, “I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues.”

This night, after a(notherdamn) rainfall, our buddy was seen slinking his way across wet blades of lemongrass. He had been looking right at the camera, and at the last second… well, he’s shy.

I’ve always wanted to catch some good sun flares, but it’s not always the easiest thing to do. It seemed I never could get it quite right.

Driven by the influence and tutorial of a master of sun flares, Dave DiCello, I took some extra time on a client shoot to catch this morning scene. If it weren’t for Dave’s support, I likely wouldn’t have posted this at all, but there you have it. Thanks, Dave!

After photographing ‘Old Baldy’, the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina, Bob Lussier and I zipped around the island on a rented golf cart, looking for more subjects. Perhaps we didn’t have enough time, or we weren’t looking in the right places, but there was little to be found. As we were heading back to the ferry, we spotted this old boathouse, sitting abandoned in the marsh. Perfect!

Bob produced a great image of this scene, artfully rendering it in black and white. You can see that image at Bald Head Boat House. Previously, I posted a picture of Bob taking that image at Bob Lussier.

I guess we’ve worked this old structure over pretty good by now, but it seemed such an interesting and unlikely place for an old abandoned house, it seems justified.
